Police nab five suspects, seize hard drugs in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command is continuing its operations to clear out crime in the state. They aim to remove criminals from their hideouts and boost safety for the people.

Ramhan Nansel, the command’s Public Relations Officer, shared this news on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital. He said officers from different units, including the Police Mobile Force and Tactical Teams, have been carrying out operations in hilly areas in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

The operation took place in Tudun Hawa Uku, Kurmin Gogo, Rafin Ayaba, and nearby areas, including the paths used by criminals in the region.

Nansel stated, “During the operation, five suspects were arrested while substances believed to be hard drugs, including ice and its equipment, were found with them as evidence.

“The suspects are now in police custody. Investigations are ongoing to find out how involved they are in criminal activities and if they have any connections to other crimes.

The clearance operation is still active. Officers are focusing on covering more routes and criminal hideouts in the area.

Nansel mentioned that the State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, has urged officers to keep up the efforts. He wants them to extend the clearance to include Mada Station and surrounding places. The aim is to ensure all criminals hiding in the mountains are caught.

“The Commissioner also assured residents that the police are committed to protecting lives and property. He encouraged the public to keep giving timely and useful information to support the ongoing operations,” the statement said.
