Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke have seized two AK-47 rifles and other items after fighting armed men in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The troops faced the armed group on Monday after getting a tip-off that some criminals, pretending to be herders, had crossed from Nasarawa State into Guma, the military reported.

In a statement on Monday, Ahmad Zubairu, the acting media officer of the task force, said the troops came under fire when they arrived at the scene. They responded and forced the armed men to run away.

He noted that the troops did not suffer any casualties during the clash.
