Security Tight at Fadahunsi's Polling Station, Lawmaker Yet to Vote

The polling unit where Francis Fadahunsi, the senator for Osun East, is set to vote saw a calm atmosphere on Saturday. Voters lined up while security personnel kept a strong presence in the area.

At PU 001, Ilase NUD Primary School in Ward 04, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, elderly voters and persons with disabilities (PWDs) were given priority as they waited to cast their votes.

Around 10:19 a.m., a 100-year-old woman named Yetif Amseh from the Ogbonaro area of Ilase received help to cast her ballot at the polling unit.

This calm setting comes just days after Fadahunsi was reported to have threatened to kill members of the Accord Party in Ilesa ahead of the governorship election.

Governor Ademola Adeleke is vying for a second term under the party’s banner. He switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last December.

Fadahunsi is part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and allegedly made the threat during a protest on Wednesday at the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

The protest was about what Fadahunsi called the ongoing killings of APC members. His remarks reportedly increased political tension in the area before the election. The police later invited him due to the alleged threat.

Fadahunsi later clarified that when he said “kill,” he meant voting against the opposition.
