Woman Arrested After 60-Year-Old Man Dies in Hotel

The police have arrested a woman in connection with the sudden death of a 60-year-old man at a hotel in Dutse, which is the capital of Jigawa State.

The spokesperson for the state command, Lawan Adam, shared this information in a statement on Wednesday.

He mentioned that the incident took place in the Yalwawa area of Dutse.

According to Mr Adam, initial police investigations showed that the man checked into the hotel with the 20-year-old woman.

Shortly after they ordered food, he faced a serious medical emergency and had trouble breathing.

“Officers from the Yalwawa Police Division quickly responded to a distress call from the hotel management. They took the victim to the General Hospital in Dutse, but the medical staff declared him dead when they arrived,” he said.

“Detectives secured the scene and collected several items for forensic examination. These included leftover food and drinks, a substance believed to be a sexual enhancement drug, and personal belongings.”

Mr Adam said that after a medical assessment and necessary procedures, the man’s body was released to his family for burial according to their wishes.

The 20-year-old woman is currently in police custody. She is helping detectives gather important information about what happened leading to the man's death.

The police assured the public that they will conduct a thorough and fair investigation. Mr Adam also urged residents to avoid spreading false rumors or guessing about the case. This could interfere with the investigation or cause unnecessary fear.

The police will provide more updates to the public as the investigation continues.
