The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has praised the Supreme Court ruling that confirms Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the rightful APC candidate for the June 20 governorship election.

The party called the court’s decision a win for internal democracy, the rule of law, and the wishes of APC members in Ekiti State. They urged all party members and stakeholders to see the ruling as a chance for greater unity and to support the governor as he continues to carry out his plans for shared prosperity.

The case was brought by an APC governorship hopeful, Abimbola Olawunmi, who contested the results of the party's primary that selected Governor Oyebanji as the APC candidate.

The case moved through the High Court and the Court of Appeal, both of which confirmed Oyebanji’s candidacy. On Friday, the Supreme Court unanimously dismissed Olawunmi’s appeal and upheld the appellate court’s decision.

The APC, in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, said, "The judgment has finally laid to rest all legal issues surrounding the Governor’s candidacy and has further strengthened the legitimacy of the landslide mandate given to him by Ekiti people on June 20."

They congratulated Governor Oyebanji on this legal affirmation. The party also praised him for his humility during this time. Despite winning the primaries and the election by a large margin, and now having the Supreme Court confirm it, he has remained focused, peaceful, and inclusive.

The APC added that instead of getting distracted, the governor focused on governance. Instead of being bitter, he chose development. Instead of excluding anyone, he decided to include all Ekiti people.

"This is the Oyebanji experiment in action. Power has not changed him. Victory has not made him proud. Legal battles have not made him harsh. That is why Ekiti people trust him," the statement continued.

The APC thanked the judiciary for standing by justice and protecting democracy. They also congratulated President Bola Tinubu and the National Working Committee for their backing.
