The Edo State Special Security Squad, working with other security agencies, has arrested four suspected cult members. They were caught during a raid in Egbaen Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The operation happened in the early hours of Sunday. It was led by Governor Monday Okpebholo's Principal Security Officer, Saturday Okoh.

During the raid, the security team found four locally made pistols, one cut-to-size gun, one Beretta pistol, and a machete in the suspects' hideout.

The suspects denied owning the weapons. But they reportedly admitted to being part of the Aiye Confraternity.

On Monday, the squad’s coordinator, Noah Idemudia, spoke with journalists. He thanked the public for sharing valuable information that helped the squad’s work.

He asked for continued support, saying timely information is key to the squad’s success. "In the early hours of Sunday, we received intelligence that some members of the Black Axe group were planning to carry out an initiation in Egbaen Community. This could have led to other crimes that might disturb peace and order."

"We responded quickly, moved into the community, and arrested four suspects while recovering dangerous weapons. We thank the public and encourage them to keep sharing useful information, as it has helped us achieve many successes. We will keep working hard to make sure Edo State is safe for everyone," he said.
