The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, Usman Mazadu, confirmed that they have managed a gas tanker leak in Kaduna South.
Mazadu spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, explaining that the agency teamed up with the Kaduna State Fire and Public Safety Agency after they got a distress call on Sunday.
He mentioned that the emergency team secured the area while they worked on cooling the tanker to keep it stable and avoid any further issues.
"No casualty or injury was recorded, and the tanker driver escaped unharmed," he said.
Mazadu advised both motorists and pedestrians to steer clear of the Nnamdi Azikiwe By-Pass near Unguwan Mu’azu until the officials say it is safe to return.
He also noted that traffic has been redirected to other routes to help with emergency work and keep road users safe.
Mazadu praised residents for their understanding and asked them to follow the instructions of the emergency personnel until the work was completed.
