Police catch four suspected robbers and cultists in Delta
Delta State Police arrested four suspected robbers and cultists in Umunede and Ughelli. They recovered guns, cartridges, and stolen motorcycles.

Operatives from the Delta State Police Command have arrested four people suspected of being armed robbers and cultists. The arrests happened in different operations aimed at fighting cultism and armed robbery in Umunede and Ughelli areas of the state.
The police recovered seven guns, 10 live cartridges, two stolen motorcycles, and some suspected illegal drugs during these operations.
This information came from a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe. Journalists in Warri received copies of the statement on Saturday.
The statement said, "On October 30, 2026, at about 1:15 PM, a resident of Umunede reported to the Umunede Division that a man named Chibuike Ezeji, 30 years old, threatened to kill him with a pistol."
"Acting on this complaint, operatives from the Division worked with members of the Umunede Civilian Anti-Cult Group. They went to a house along Umunede Expressway where Oscar Ignatius, a suspected cultist, was said to be living."
"This operation led to the arrest of Chibuike Ezeji and a 22-year-old man named Ikenna Emeka. A search of the house found one pump-action gun, one locally made cut-to-size gun, three locally made pistols, eight live cartridges, and substances believed to be cannabis and methamphetamine (ice)," the statement added.
The police spokesman confirmed that the suspects are in custody and investigations are still going on.

In another case, on October 28, 2026, around 5:30 AM, the Commissioner’s Special Assignment Team responded to reports of motorcycle thefts by armed men along Stadium Road, Saniko, and nearby areas in Ughelli. They raided a suspected criminal hideout in Ighrovie, Ughelli.
This operation led to the arrest of Peter Emobaye, 22, and James Emmanuel, 29, along with the recovery of one stolen Qlink motorcycle.
After initial questioning, the suspects took the police to the home of their alleged gang leader, known as Sunny, in Ufuoma Town. A search of this place found one stolen Daylong motorcycle, one fake Beretta pistol, one locally made shotgun, and two live cartridges.
The PPRO stated that the suspects are in custody, and police are working to catch the gang leader and other members of the group.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, has emphasized the command’s determination to combat cultism, armed robbery, and the spread of illegal firearms.
The CP urged the public to “keep supporting the Police with credible and timely information.” He assured residents that the police will continue to work hard to protect lives and property across the state.
