Man Arrested for Breaking Into Homes in Oyo

The Oyo State Police have arrested a man named Nasiru Abiodun. He is suspected of breaking into four homes in Ibadan. Police recovered stolen items worth N16.22 million from him.

Abiodun was caught on Saturday around 9:45 am in a residential area at Ejiooku/Iyana Offa in Ibadan.

DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer, shared this news in a statement on Sunday. He said the arrest came after residents of Oyewole Zone 2, Ile-Igbon, reported the burglaries. This led the Violent Crime Response Unit to take action.

The police statement revealed that Abiodun was found with a sack full of house cables and other valuable items. These items are estimated to be worth N3 million.

"During questioning, the suspect admitted to the crimes. He confessed to breaking into four different homes in the area, stealing house cables, mobile phones, motorcycle batteries, and other household items," the statement said.

The police confirmed that the total value of stolen items from these burglaries is N16.22 million. They also mentioned that some of the stolen property has been recovered from Abiodun.

After the arrest, police officers visited the homes that were broken into. They wanted to understand more about what happened and to further their investigation.

The police are also working hard to find the remaining stolen items and to catch anyone involved in receiving the stolen goods.

They have called on residents of Ejiooku, Iyana Offa, Ile-Igbon, and nearby areas who have experienced burglaries to report these incidents. They can do this at the nearest police station or at the Maku Base of the Violent Crime Response Unit.

The police believe that information from the public will help with the ongoing investigation and assist in recovering more stolen property.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, has promised that the police will continue to fight crime. He emphasized the importance of working with the community to gather intelligence and prevent crime.

He encouraged residents to stay alert and provide reliable information to the police. This will help in stopping and identifying criminal activities.
