Nigerian government shares N38.93 billion with 166 schools

The federal government has shared N38.93 billion among 166 public tertiary institutions across the country. This is to fix infrastructure problems and boost teaching and learning facilities.

The information came from a statement by Efe Ovuakporie, the Head of Media at the Federal Ministry of Finance. She released it on Sunday in Abuja.

Ovuakporie explained that this money comes from the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund. It will benefit 79 universities, 46 polytechnics, and 41 colleges of education.

She noted that universities would get N28.5 billion. Polytechnics will receive N5.8 billion, while colleges of education will share N4.7 billion.

This funding is also meant to help carry out agreements from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Ovuakporie mentioned that the funds should help schools start or continue important projects. These projects will focus on fixing infrastructure and meeting other needs identified by the schools.

She stressed that good coordination between relevant agencies and the schools is key. This ensures that the funds lead to real improvements in educational infrastructure.
