The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned about dust haze, sunshine, and thunderstorms across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday. They advised residents to be aware of possible weather dangers.

In a weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet said there would be slight dust haze over Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states on Monday.

NiMet mentioned that sunny weather is expected in the North-east during the forecast period.

For the North-central area, sunny skies with some clouds are predicted. There may be possible thunderstorms with light rain in parts of Kogi, Kwara, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, and Nasarawa.

In the South, the weather will be cloudy with some sunshine. There may be morning thunderstorms and light rain in coastal states.

The agency noted that scattered thunderstorms with light rain could happen later in parts of Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

On Tuesday, NiMet predicted sunny and hazy weather in the North, with isolated thunderstorms and light rain in southern Taraba.

They expect sunny and hazy skies with some clouds in the North-central region, with possible morning thunderstorms over Benue.

The agency added that thunderstorms with light rain could affect most parts of the region later in the day.

In the South, NiMet forecasts cloudy skies with sunshine and possible morning thunderstorms with light rain in Anambra, Ebonyi, Abia, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

They also expect thunderstorms with light rain in most of the southern region later on Tuesday.

For Wednesday, NiMet predicts sunny and hazy weather across the northern region for the whole day.

They expect sunny skies with some clouds in the North-central area, with isolated thunderstorms and light rain possible in parts of Kwara during the afternoon.

In the South, NiMet forecasts cloudy skies with sunshine in the morning, followed by thunderstorms with moderate rain later.

The agency advised residents to be careful about suspended dust, especially those with asthma and other breathing problems. "People with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition," they said.

NiMet also warned that strong winds could come before thunderstorms. They urged people to secure loose items to stop them from being blown away.

They advised the public to unplug electrical appliances and avoid standing under tall trees during storms to prevent injuries from falling branches.

The agency encouraged airline operators to get airport-specific weather reports and flight documentation from NiMet for better planning.

They urged everyone to stay updated with regular weather information on their website.
