The Ogun State Police have caught two men believed to be part of a ‘one-chance’ robbery gang in Abeokuta.
The suspects are Bidemi Tijani, 29, and Olajide Rasaq, 42. They were arrested on August 15 during an operation led by the Violent Crime Response Unit.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspects were caught after police got a tip-off. The tip said that gang members posing as taxi drivers were seen in a taxi heading to Ita-Oshin in Abeokuta.
“Acting quickly on the information, our tactical team chased the robbers towards Ita-Oshin, stopped their vehicle and arrested the two men,” the statement noted.
“During questioning, both suspects admitted to being part of the ‘One Chance’ robbery gang that has been disturbing commuters in Abeokuta.”
The police are now working hard to find other members of the gang. They aim to uncover the full details of their crimes and recover stolen items.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the VCRU officers for their quick action and professionalism.
Ojajuni made it clear that the police are serious about fighting crime in the state. He warned that anyone involved in crime will not be safe in Ogun State.
