Police Arrest Two Suspected Robbers in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police have arrested two suspected members of a robbery gang known for one-chance crimes. These suspects have been causing trouble for people in the state.

Reports say the criminals targeted a woman who got into a minibus in the Rumuosi area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. She didn't know the other people in the bus were part of the gang.

An eyewitness shared, "A few moments later, the lady began to shout and tried to run away from the robbers, but they stopped her."

"The noise, the fighting, and the woman’s screams attracted people nearby who ran after the speeding bus. The driver got lost and ended up stuck. Residents then started attacking the robbers until the police arrived."

The eyewitness added that the police rescued the robbers from the angry crowd. They arrested the suspects and took them to the station in a police van.

On Saturday, the Rivers State Police spokesperson, Blessing Agabe, confirmed the arrests in a statement from Port Harcourt. She said this was a big achievement for the police.

Agabe, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police, mentioned that the suspects admitted their roles in the crime. She also said that the police are working hard to catch other members of the gang.

The statement said, "The Rivers State Police Command has achieved another major success in its ongoing fight against one-chance gangs with the arrest of two suspected members operating in the state."

"Following orders from the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, police operatives arrested the criminals."

The arrested suspects are Uche Samuel, 45, from Omunato Local Government Area in Imo State, and Nkechi Amadi, 42, from Nekede, also in Imo State.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime. The police are still looking for other members of the gang.

Meanwhile, Adepoju has emphasized that the police will be tough on one-chance operators and all violent criminals in the state. He warned that there will be no safe place for these criminals.

He said the police will keep using smart policing and proactive operations to find, arrest, and punish offenders. The Commissioner also assured the public that the police are committed to keeping law-abiding citizens safe.

He urged everyone to stay alert and share useful information with the police. This will help them stop crime quickly and catch criminals so they can face justice.
