President Bola Tinubu has urged young Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and take part in the 2027 general elections. He said the outcome of the poll will shape their future.

He emphasized that the election is not about his personal goals but about young Nigerians. He encouraged them to use their PVCs to decide who leads the country.

Tinubu made these comments on Saturday during the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“To the youth of Nigeria, I’m looking at you. This election is about you. It’s not about me. Your future depends on this election,” he said.

He encouraged those who have not collected their PVCs to do so, calling the voter card a weapon for shaping the nation’s future.

“It is left for you to use the weapon you have. And that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please. I beg you. I take God beg you,” the President said.

Tinubu also pointed out that economic development is a way for young Nigerians to fight against poverty. He noted that his administration is focused on improving the economy and spreading wealth.

He mentioned that previous governments left behind billions and trillions of naira in unpaid pensions and gratuities, which his government is now addressing.

“The people that governed before, they left unpaid pensions and gratuity in billions and trillions of naira. That is being cleared. So that every family is included. We are sharing prosperity already,” he said.

Tinubu highlighted that retired professionals, such as engineers, welders, and teachers, are now receiving their payments.

“A retired engineer is receiving their gratuity right now. A retired welder is receiving the pension right now. A retired teacher is receiving the pension right now,” he added.

The President thanked the people for their support and interaction, showing his affection for them before he finished his speech.

The rally took place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. It was organized by the Rainbow Coalition, a political group led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The coalition aims to gather support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The group includes politicians and supporters from various parties, such as the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party. They have already endorsed Tinubu for a second term and revealed their chosen candidates for different positions in Rivers State.

Tinubu’s attendance at the rally is part of his efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections. He started his re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24.
