Former Plateau Commissioner Says No to APC Campaign Council Role
Aminu Zang has rejected his appointment to the APC campaign council, stating he remains loyal to the PDP. He was not consulted before his name was added.

Former Plateau State Commissioner for Works, Aminu Zang, has turned down his appointment to the All Progressives Congress Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council in the state. He stressed that he remains loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Zang’s name was listed as number 254 on the published list from the APC Campaign Council’s Central Planning Committee. He stated that he was not consulted or informed before his name was added.
In a statement he released on Wednesday, titled "Clarification on My Inclusion in the 2027 Plateau State Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council, Central Planning Committee," Zang affirmed his commitment to the PDP.
He said, "While I sincerely appreciate those who considered me worthy of inclusion and deemed me suitable for the responsibilities associated with this important assignment, I wish to state, unequivocally and without any ambiguity, that I remain an unrepentant and committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of the RAINBOW COALITION extraction."
No Knowledge of Appointment
In a phone interview with our reporter, Zang explained that he had no knowledge or consent regarding his inclusion in the APC campaign council.
"They didn’t consult me. I’m not angry, so to speak. But, if you read the statement that I issued, I thanked those who felt that I was worthy of inclusion in the campaign council list," he said.
He added, "Unfortunately for them, I am a bona fide member of the PDP. So, I cannot belong to the PDP and now be in the APC campaign council team. I cannot."
Ahead of 2027 Elections

Zang clarified his political stance for the upcoming 2027 elections. He said, "I am supporting Wike’s position that Tinubu returns, but for the governor, no way. I’m in the PDP."
He also expressed support for his party's candidate, saying, "Of course, we have a candidate in the PDP, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik."
When asked if the PDP had set up its campaign council yet, he replied, "No, not yet. They are working on it."
Call for Peace
In his statement, Zang called for peace as the elections approach. He urged political leaders to handle the electoral process with maturity and respect for one another.
"The electoral process should be approached with maturity, mutual respect and a strong sense of responsibility," he said.
He encouraged party members, supporters, and the public to embrace peace, tolerance, civility, and political decorum. He also called for divine guidance for a peaceful electoral process.
