The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS) and the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Industries have decided to work together. Their goal is to increase internally generated revenue (IGR), attract more investments, and support economic growth.

This agreement happened during a visit by the Executive Chairman of ZIRS, Rakiya Ahmad Dodo. She led her team to meet with the Commissioner for Commerce, Tourism and Industries, Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi, in Gusau.

Dodo's team included Ibrahim AbdulNasir, the Executive Director of Revenue Operations, and other senior officials from ZIRS.

At the meeting, the two agencies talked about ways to boost the state’s revenue, promote trade and investment, and create a better business environment.

Dodo mentioned that working closer would help widen the tax base through proper economic activities. She also highlighted the importance of supporting policies that make it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to operate.

She praised the ministry’s work in promoting commerce and industrial growth. Dodo also assured that ZIRS is ready to team up with the ministry to strengthen the state’s economy.

Shinkafi welcomed this partnership. He said that better cooperation between the ministry and ZIRS would lead to improved investment promotion, more revenue generation, and support for policies that open up economic chances.

Both parties promised to cooperate according to Governor Dauda Lawal’s economic development agenda. Their focus is on attracting more investments, boosting internally generated revenue, and ensuring sustainable development.
