Delta APC Supports Tinubu and Oborevwori for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, and all other party candidates for the 2027 general elections.

This support came as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, urged all party members to stay committed and work for the success of the party’s candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The announcement was made in a statement on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Festus Ahon. This followed the Delta Central APC Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting held at the Petroleum Training Institute Conference Centre in Effurun.

According to the statement, party leaders, stakeholders, and members agreed on the candidates. They also called for unity and stronger grassroots mobilization as the elections approach.

“The endorsement came during the Delta Central APC Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre, Effurun.

“Moving the motion for the endorsement, which Hon. Halims Agoda seconded, the party’s founding leader, Chief O’tega Emerhor, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for their policies and programs that he said were benefiting Nigerians and Deltans positively.

“The motion was then put to a voice vote by the Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, and was unanimously accepted,” the statement said.

While speaking at the meeting, Arenyeka mentioned that the stakeholders’ meetings across the state’s three senatorial districts were started after the State Working Committee reviewed party activities. They aimed to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

He described the Delta Central gathering as proof that the strategy was working, noting that the quality of attendees showed growing unity within the party.

Arenyeka also praised Governor Oborevwori for his efforts to reconcile members and improve party structures throughout Delta State.

He welcomed members from other parties, assuring them of equal chances and full integration into the APC.

Earlier, the APC Chairman in Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, said Oborevwori’s selection as the party’s governorship candidate showed the confidence in his leadership and performance.

He urged members to put the primaries behind them and come together for the general election.

“The primaries have come and gone. Winners have emerged, and some may feel disappointed. But the time for internal competition is over. The upcoming election is more important than any individual's ambition. Let us forgive each other, heal misunderstandings, and work together for our party's success,” Akpeki said.

Also speaking to the group, Minister Keyamo congratulated the party candidates who won in the APC primaries and praised those who accepted the results.

“The APC is not a miracle center where people just come to get tickets. Our candidates came through the party’s democratic process, and we must all respect those results,” Keyamo said.

He added that President Tinubu’s economic reforms are beginning to show positive results. This includes increased government revenue, investments in infrastructure, job creation, and poverty reduction.

Senator Dafinone thanked party leaders and stakeholders for their support. He promised to create more job and empowerment opportunities for youths if he is re-elected.

Leaders from the three federal constituencies in Delta Central also promised to work together to ensure victory for all APC candidates in 2027.

Speaking for women in the district, Stella Okotete, Executive Director of Business Development at NEXIM Bank, said Delta Central would deliver at least one million votes for the APC. She also called for more inclusion and empowerment for women and youths.

Isaiah Esiovwa, Chairman of the Delta State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, assured the party of grassroots mobilization by council chairmen across the district.

Separately, Keyamo said in a post on his X handle on Sunday that the meeting allowed him to congratulate the party’s candidates and appreciate aspirants who stayed with the APC despite losing at the primaries.

“I urged all party members to remain steadfast and work for the victory of our candidates at all levels, including that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he wrote.
